I bought a 12" Slingerland duco tom for a kit im working on. I used the Slingerland timeline and it seemed to be from the 50's because of the mahogany inner ply, thicker reinforcement rings and untucked outer ply seem. After striping the duco paint it exposed an outer maple ply.
This confuses me, i thought Slingerland didn't start using maple until the 60's and when they did, wasn't it usually on the inside.
I was wondering if anyone could explain what this shell is or is this just a rare situation/mixup where Slingerland used maple.
