I just picked up a 50's ( or at least I think, based on the badge....) WMP Student Radio King for my latest resto project.
And there in lies my question as to the age of this drum.
Did Slingerland offer gthe WMP in the mid to late 50's?
I will post pictures later, it has the typical student hardware, single flange hoop with NOB, the original calf Radio King heads, the top one was ripped, 3 point strainer and the proper screws and washers in side along with a 3ply shell.
It has a Black & Brass Chicago badge, which puts it pre 62' and it was my understanding that the hardware was nickle was up until 1958.
Question is, I thought that they didn't offer WMP until 63', according to Rob Cook's book?
Does anybody have first hand experience with WMP's from pre 1958 or should I think that's there's something rotten in Denmark?
Overall the drum look marginal as to its condition and appears to have been idle and most likely squirelled away somewhere for quite sometime.
Thanks guys 'n girls.
