It is 3-ply luan [mahogany], MIJ. I'd be careful inviting as many questions as possible...:)

If I may, I think your price is a tick high on this piece. Sure looks nice though...

Thanks dtf, I'll take your advise on the questions, I really don't know a lot about this drum, but I have had it for at least 2 or 3 years. It actually sounds great.

What would be a reasonable price?

I'm not surprised it sounds great - I've owned at least two MIJ snares that were absolute tops, one a 13" Dixie and another 14" 8-lug Coronet, pretty much exactly what you've got.

I'd rather not suggest a price as I'm up here in Canada where it's always more $$ for vintage drums of any make/description. Hopefully a kind and knowledgeable American will chime in....maybe I can just point out that whole kits in great shape go for $150 - $200 in the states, and the same for around $250 - $400 up here.

It's a nice drum fersure!

I'm not American, but i think i'll "chime in" for a price estimate.. I think $75 US$ is fair

for a MIJ snare drum, no matter what the brand or condition, unless it's a ten lug Star

(pre Tama) or early Pearl, where it can bring the $100-$150 range in great condition.

You will see a lot of players buy these MIJ snare drums to match their existing kits. I know a lot of guys who play MIJ kits but also with a high end snare drum, only because drums like yours just don't quite make the team for harder hitters. For quieter shows, acoustic, trio jazz they are perfect...In fact im looking for a Coronet blue sparkle if you see one!Cool1
