60's Leedy Chrome Shelly Manne Snare...COB? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hello Friends,

Can anyone tell me what the chrome Shelly Manne snare shells of the 60's were made of? Are they COB shells? This pic below doesn't really specify.

Thanks,

Aaron

Most references have the Shelly Manne snare as Brass, but Rob Cook's Slingerland book does not make that clear. With a lug removed, it should be easy to confirm. (Part of the confusion is that all the Leedy snares that are brass, are touted as brass, but the Shelly Manne is just called Chrome).

Cool...thanks for the reply. I was confused also, but scored one on eBay and have been patiently awaiting its arrival. I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I get mine delivered! Judging by the 11-lb box that is coming my way, I want to think it's a brass shell. Also, being that it is basically a Slingerland shell and those seemed to be made of brass during this era, that also leads me to believe that it is COB. I will let you know as soon as I find out.

Cool...I figured it would be brass, but just couldn't find anything that confirmed it. I'm really stoked now!

She's brass, alright! I'll post up a pic after I get her cleaned up.
