I scoured the web to find a real, true review/comparison between the original Club Dates and the new '12 reissues. I found plenty of info on the new kits, but would love to hear from owners or members who have played/owned both and see what the main differences are in sound, etc. I am seriously considering getting a set of Club Dates but I would prefer to get an original kit just because. I do like the look of the new ones also, so I'm a little torn... New ones will probably cost less, but they're made overseas and that's kind of a downer for me.

I hear you. It's weird talking about an "imported" Ludwig kit!
They sound good (the new ones), but I find the rail mount pretty bulky and not as simple as the originals. Plus, I am not a fan of the spurs on the new ones.
It's up to you. I guess it depends on what kind of condition you want an original one to be in. If you're okay with a "players kit" that is not 100% pristine, you could probably pick one up for about the same price as a new one.

Check out Chicago Music Exchange, I know they had a set (vintage) with snare for a real nice price, less expensive then a reissue kit if I remember right!
