60's Ludwig Lugs Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hi guys I am cleaning up a 67 stamped Ludwig OBP kit. I was polishing lugs today. I noticed that there are two different lug types on here. Would this be normal? Everything on the kit seemed to be original. Thanks in advance. Below is a pic of the two different lug types.

One is a tom lug (smaller one) and the other is a bass drum lug (larger one.)

Too many great drums to list here!

These are both large classic lugs off a super classic kit stamped 67 brother.

The casting are not the same. The lug on the right about 1966, the lug on the left after 1967...Ludwig made 1.000's and 1,000's of these lugs, this is why you will fine a mix of lugs on the 67 set's.....Mikey

Those are same large lugs from different periods. The right is modern one (i have the same on my kit), I assume as the left has "more steel material" inside.

Maybe there was a lug construction modification in 1967 or, if you are not the first owner-lug was missing and replaced

Thanks for all the info. This would make sense because the kit is stamped Jan 67. Probably just using up the old stuff.

Thanks again.
