60s LUDWIG OYSTER BLUE PEARL SNARE Last viewed: 1 hour ago

As stated in one of my other posts, my "hunt" for the advertised 60s Ludwig oyster black pearl snare drum turned into a find of a Ludwig oyster blue pearl snare drum (both 6-lugs).

The one that I did find is in excellent condition, both functionally and cosmetically, with all original Ludwig parts (other than the wires).

The finish shows minimal to no fade, and there's no pitting whatsoever on the lugs or rims. It truly is a very good looking drum and I personally like the oyster blue pearl as much as the oyster black pearl finish.

BOTTOM LINE: Is it worth $300.00?

I've got to let the current owner know by Friday whether I'm going to pick it up.

Yes or no?

THANKS!

Thanks.

I personally like the look of oyster blue, but the drum worth more is the 1964 black oyster pearl drum that you mentioned in your other post. Why don't you buy both of them and then immediately re-sell the black oyster pearl drum to forum member mlvibes? He mentioned that he was interested in buying the black oyster drum, I think. Maybe you could work something out? -just an idea.Kiss

But, the key is whether you want a drum that will be a solid return on the investment -BOTH will...but but the year(1964) PLUS the black oyster finish is a drum of higher investment/historical value...in my opinion.Chewie:

O-Lugs:

THANKS for your input.

However,,,,,,,,,====I obviously didn't make myself clear.

The drum that was originally advertised as an oyster black pearl is, in fact an oyster blue pearl. The seller was mistaken when he described the drum.

Soooooooooooo......there are NOT two Ludwig "pearl" snares available from this particular seller. There's just one - the oyster BLUE pearl, originally advertised as the oyster BLACK pearl.

$300.00 for an extremely sound Oyster Blue Pearl is the question.

THANKS to all for your input!

Well, most 8 lug Jazz Fests fall in that price range depending on the finish. So my opinion is that is more then what the drum is worth...

Now, if you were matching a set, then drop the dough, but drum for drum another $25 or $50 would get you a nice 8 lug Jazz Fest, probably not in that finish, but since your not matching a set then finish is not as big of an issue...

So. I'm the first to say NO for the above reasons.
