I have a customer that is not happy about the 60s P83 on his snare and wants to upgrade the throw. Does any of the newer Ludwigs fit the hole configuration?

Dunnett make a strainer to replace p85 & p83 on beaded metal Ludwig snares. They're a great replacement.
I just put an R4-L on my old snare. Just a note the bolts that came with it were to big for older shells.
Yes, used some smaller diameter bolts & washers to secure it. Wasn't going to drill, ha

Ludwig still sells the p85 that has the same bolt pattern. They also sell the p86 strainer that fits as well. The p85's are very inexpensive.

The R4-L came up locally at a good price & I was familiar with it on some of my other snares. I was leaning towards a P-86
go for the p83. Simple, stylish, slim, classic! And they just work! They don't back off as much as the p85. Also, the p85 is in my own opinion a bit of an eyesore and feels like a cheap strainer, similar in quality to some MIJ strainers.
