60's Premier set exclusive Last viewed: 38 minutes ago

I'm new here cause I was digging on the net for some info about this set I just got I'm pretty excited guys... Last week I bought a very nice (dusty but nice) Premier set. It is exactly the Ringo Star set from his early days but with a gold sparkle finish. The really nice part about this set is the size of it.. It has a snaredrum, two toms and two floortoms. The biggest one isn't Officially a Premier but a Trixon floor. It does have the same finish so it had to be added to the set way back. Now here's something you don't see everyday. This set came with two original Premier bongo's on the original stand!! Wow man, I've never seen that before!! This set belonged to a man who passed away, His widow stored the set in the basement (warm and dry luckily!!) but had to move out so couldn't keep it. This set hadn't been played on in over 30 years. It has the original heads even. The cymbals that came with it are original Zildjians wich date frome the same era as the drumset does. The lady told me it was halfway the 60's... Now I'll have to do some serious cleaning but there is no rust. The bassdrumpedal has the rubber-like coating on the footpart, just like the hihatstand. I'm not really sure how to place both toms on the bassdrum. I think it's not meant for that because there is one standholder on the bassdrum in wich you can slide the tomholder and the other bracket on the bassdrum is just a knob on wich I can attach a tom but then it's way to low for playing it... Well check out my pictures and let me know what you think!!

Dude - I'm flabbergasted at your luck! Vintage Premiers with what looks like a 20" trixie floor tom, original hardware, 60's Zildjians (A or K they're going to be great.) And the bongo's! Man, how cool is that kit.

I even love how even the fading and patina is on the wrap. Please don't disturb it by over-cleaning. It took half a century for gorgeous aging to happen.

Love the kit. Keep those! And take as good care of them as their original owner did. In 50 years, some 16 year-old kid will sit down behind his old Premier beaters and learn to love them every bit as much as the original owner and everybody else who may have acted as care-taker for them before him. Maybe future drummer-boy will take good care of them too!

What a score... what a gift from the Universe. Sweet kit.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Nice score! Are those 15" hi-hats or something larger?

Thanx guys... Yeah, I'm not sure about the cleaning... Maybe just the rims and stands... I don't want to mess up the wrap like Purdie said... Hihat is a regular 14 inch, I still have to pick up the rest of the cymbals... There is a very large Zildjian ride and one or 2 crashes... Very sharp, Purdie, the larger floortom is a Trixon 20 inch... I still have to find out if it was possible to mount two toms on the bassdrum or just one like I did on the picture.... There is another bracket-like stubby on the bassdrum... Great to hear that you guys share my opinion about this very old Premier!!

Premier 55 kit, mid 1950's to 1960.

Methinks it's listed in the 1954 catalogue

J Richard!!

Wow man, it's even older than I thought it was... The "55 kit", is that the model of this Premier?? Do you have a link to that '55 catalogue ??

Here's a link to various Premier catalogues, it's not complete but it has the info you need.

Start with the 1951 Cat.

ps: You have 2 mounted toms? If so it's the "Continental" kit.
