Hi Guys,
I just picked up this mid-60's Slingerland "Super Tension" parade snare. It's in showroom condition.
I'm wondering if anyone knows what wood(s) these were made from. I checked out the Slingerland history here and looked through the catalog scans and those were very helpful. However, they don't get into the wood used and construction details.
It looks to me like the drum has at least an outer ply of maple and maple re-rings. However, I can't tell if there are plies of other wood in there. It seems like a pretty thin shell since the drum is pretty light for a 12" X 15".
Any info is appreciated. BTW, the drum sounds killer!
John
