Is anybody aware of 60s-era Slingerland snare drums having "back plates" with their lug mounting screws? If so, were the plates factory-issued only with specific models?
THANKS in advance for your time and your help!

I have a 1964 5x14 8 lug COBLeedy by slingerland and it's got the plates. the snare is the same as a Slingerland excepth the lugs, badge and throwoff. I think it might be a kind of spacer so they would'nt have to spend more money on short screws for the metal snares.
hope that helps alittle.
I think all their metal snares had the backing plates in the 60's.
Sometime in the early 70's they changed to just using deep cup
washers,at the same time they changed the cob shell bearing edges to
a sharper profile.
Cheers Stevo.

I appreciate the feedback. I was thinking that the plates must have been meant for metal in lieu of wooden shells. I'm looking for 4 lugs with the mounting hardware of a late 50s Slingy snare drum so I think I'll be passing on these particular ones. THANKS AGAIN for your help!
