60s/70s Ludwig/other brand double kick players who played Zildjian. Last viewed: 1 hour ago
Ed O'Shaughnessy with Ludwig and zildjian (later Sabian).
Louie Bellson went through a few brands but stuck with Zildjian cymbals for his career.
Ed Kramer used to process the pants off of Mitch's kit, drums (and cymbals) whenever he recorded him in the studio. Is it a 'live' sound you're trying to reproduce, or something that was recorded in the Electric Lady Land studio? You'll have better luck trying to reproduce 'live' sounds than recorded ones. And if you're trying to reproduce the sound of 50's/60's Zildjians, you'll need to round up some 50's/60's Zildjians and then one by one begin the hunt.

Live sound.
You'll need to sort through a lot of pies. Best bet for finding the 'right' sounding cymbals would be a drum show, or a well stocked music store where you can hear it and have enough selection to allow finding a nice one, or two. Good luck. Tough finding and then matching great sounding cymbals. For some guys it's the quest of a life-time!

According to his biography (and wikipedia), Aynsley Dunbar was up for the Hendrix gig, lost the coin flip to Mitch Mitchell.
He has been around forever, playing with John Mayall, Zappa, and most everyone else eventually.
