here i am looking at my 1962 Ludwig cat and was hoping to see whats up with specifically the new yorker and what i found, which i suspected to be true is that on page 4 discussing the super-Ludwig model 400, it state's that this cob drum came standard on the classic, new yorker , and traveler outfits....
the downbeat snare was not part of these kits only as a separate order it was on its own with the down beat kit.So there you have on page 23 it shows the new yorker kit which could of been ordered in nickel or chrome ( hows that one for you) for $20 .00 up charge so the is no option of the downbeat snare being offered with the new yorker, now here comes the trick part in the 67 cat, the new yorker comes standard with the cos rims supra as most all the kits do but there's a buy line that says turn it in to a downbeat kit with the addition of a 14x14 floor tom for a up charge, so the downbeat snare has long been phased out. as i suspected my new yorker came with the super classic 400 cob snare now il show the kit the right way but this also means if i get a downbeat snare and a 14 floor ill have the downbeat kit from the period so i can switch back and forth too cool the switch kit .
