Steve, definitely go look at those drums. Looks to me like that snare is a jazzfest (8 lugs)- if that's the case it's worth $500-$600 alone in nice shape! If you can talk him down a little bit that will be a very nice score..

Its a complete set with jazz fest snare, stands and cymbals. The pics are dark and blury but you can see that all parts are there, no missing hoops and such. I would say its worth every bit of 900. Gold sparkle, awsome! Go get it and post some better pics please.

Are these Gold Sparkle or a painted finish?

Gold sparkle is the wrap, just got home with them. Yes it is a 8 lug jazzfest snare with the original snare and maybe original heads. I will take some photos after I clean them up.

The set has a cymbal and 2 13" hats that say Ludwig standard by paiste. Are they period correct? There is an old speedmaster bass pedal, and several flat bass cymbal stands. The only thing I see wrong with the set are the original bass spurs are missing, the wrap from the bass drum hoops are mostly missing and one of the bass hoops is split.
