66 Slings Last viewed: 1 second ago

These are my 66 Slingerlands. I got the 20" bass and 6 lug snare together in the same city but different locations. Had to track them down but couldn't find out if there was any other pieces or not. The 12" ride came later from Oldschool.

My question is this. Is this mount on the bass drum a cymbal mount? Or was there a rail mount there? Maybe this was only a two piece kit to begin with?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Curtis

Can you post a larger picture? It does look odd but I can't tell because the pic is tiny.

It's still hard to tell, but it does look like an older cymbal bracket. By the looks of the badge, I don't think that bracket is period correct. I think those went away in '56 or '57. I surely haven't seen a BD with both styles of brackets on it.

You can resize the picture and make it larger. Or, if you can't figure it out, you can email it to me and I'll see if I can enlarge it and post it for you. Maybe you could get some better answers from some more knowledgable folks.

That's a tom mount. Period correct as well. Identical to my 66 Slingys which I've owned since new.

This is what the tom portion of the mount looks like.

I had a 66 Slingy kit that came with that mount, the original owner swapped it out for a Ludwig, couldn't imagine using that in a rock band!!

Thanks guys! Sorry for the small pics. I have a new born baby girl at my house. (A month old today). A little time here and there to do a little of this or a little of that!......and it's X-Mas!!!! I've sized pics before but just wasn't able to work it out this time.

I'm glad to have answers though I truly appreciate it!

Yeah, the end on the bass drum is pretty solid, but the end on the tom sometimes slips unless you use pliers on the wing nut. Same with the "push button" floor tom leg mounts. They slip, and the drum gets progressively lower as the nite goes on.
