I don't believe those are early 70's. Sorry.

Why not? I'm curious...

To me, the re-rings, hex bolts for the lug casings, tom mount, bass drum legs, and clear maple interiors all point to early 70s, but I could be wrong. I'm no expert on the finer details...

thanks guys, so if they are from the late seventies they are six ply?

If they have re-rings, they are 3-ply early 70's. No rings, 6ply, later 70's...

The other thing that's not sitting right with me is that the guy said they have been stored under the stairs for thirty years and that the wrap is immaculate, but the close-up of the badge shows some wear. Could these be in such nice condition because they have re-wrapped?

Possibly re-wrapped, but more likely wrap re-glued. Look at the lighter stripe just above the seem on the kick in this pick:

Over/under 1K?

A few years ago, I saw kits like that sell for $1100 all the time. Now, it seems that people are having a hard time selling them for $800. But, that's just my neck of the woods...

That badge serial number points to later 70's and the clear maple interiors point to early 70's and etc. I don't know. Seems interesting. I wouldn't pay more than 550 or 600 for the kit. That's me. Good kit, though. You really can't go wrong with one of these.

The double tom mount has me perplexed. Where is the 12" tom, I wonder? It wouldn't have left the factory that way....I don't think. And it's not a catalogued configuration. It's neither a Super Classic nor a Downbeat!

It's hard to say with this one at this point. I would need to study some more pictures.

It IS a bit of a combination of things.

The guy emailed me back the additional serial numbers

floor tom is 1700020

Tom is 1719393

Bass is 1700030

I'll attach a couple more pictures to see if that helps anyone in dating.

He wants 1200 CDN for the shells and original vinyl cases. I was guessing it was about 400 hundred over-priced, but I've been looking for a similar set for a long time. Shipping to Canada rules out ebay, so I'm stuck looking local.

thanks again guys,

Also guys, if the serials date to later seventies, wouldn't the olive/blue badge be rounded?

Nope. I have a 1979 Supra with a B/O pointy style badge.

I think they rounded them off in 1980 onward.
