70's Ludwig Buddy Rich Model Available Last viewed: 16 hours ago

Loading...

What would the value of the late 70's Ludwig buddy rich model set go for right now? It is missing the snare drum. The seller wants $750 for the bass, 2 floor toms, rack tom and mount.

Only thing that's strange is that the bass drum doesn't have the dual bass drum spurs like it has in the catalgoue I have seen on this website.

It looks to be in good condition.

The drums are the B/O badge and everything seems legit.

Thoughts?

Sorry, dude, that is not the real deal BR. The floor toms are 14 and 16, not the BR traditional pair of 16s. Still, not a bad pairing, if you like the 1 up 2 down, and if they are in good condition, that's not a BAD price, but you could always make an offer...maybe closer to 500 as you feel comfortable asking. And the bass drum spurs are not the ones, as you note, they are the folding style.

With the bass spurs not being the typical Ludwig disappearing type, and instead the folding type, it may be that there has been some modification of that bass, always a good thing to check, and if so, whether it is truly going to make any discernable sonic difference, it makes for an excellent bargaining tool. Anytime you mod a drum, especially Luds, or any vintage American drums, you, as the buyer, will have a greater chance of getting a great deal. These will likely be the 6 ply maple shells, and as such will have a great sound. I have some big ol Luds, same shells, 16x24, 12x13 and 13x14, both mounted toms! MS 16x16 floor tom. These are monsters! And the sound will fill a stadium they so big.
