70's Oversized Fibes Kit Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Hi everyone -

I'm selling my 70's Martin-era Fibes kit. They've been been in storage for the last 15 years or so, and I just spent a month cleaning them up. The shells are all fibreglass and they are LOUD. The kick is 26x14, the rack toms are 15x10 & 15x12, and the floor toms are 16x16 & 18x16. I don't have the "T" tom holder, but otherwise everything else is intact. I'd like to get $800 for them -which is what I've been told they're worth here. I'm willing to ship them (buyer must pay for shipping), but I will need instructions from the buyer on exactly how to ship them safely. I'm in the Philly area for those willing to pickup. Send me a PM if interested.

Thanks,

Pat

Very nice kit!...wish I had the cash to get them. They remind me of my old 70's white Rogers Big R kit, they were 24x14, 15x10, 16x16, 18x16 & 20x16(18?). I'm left handed & play with 3 floors, 2 on the left & 1 on the right & I can see setting this one up in the same configuration. I really miss that kit!...gonna go cry now! LOL!

I really like this kit.. there is even a matching 13" rack tom on eBay! If I can sell off some of my other "investments" to raise the funds in time I'll snag this from you.. if not, good luck with the sale!

Do these drums have the re-ring formed into the shell or are they just straight thin shelled?

Not sure - I think straight thin shelled. How would I be able to tell?

Nice set at a great price. To check the shell remove a head if the inside is black you will see a ring or edge at both ends of the shell. If the shells have this ring it would date your set from 1969-1972...Fibes change the shells with the straight edge then..The only problem i see with the set is the missing tom mount these are so hard to fine last one on ebay sold for almost 300.00 that was 2 years ago..Mikey

The insides of the shells are smooth. I didn't see any kind of ring inside. I can take & post pics of the insides if that would help. As far as the tom mount, I'll have to go back to my storage area and see if its there. Most drummers that used the kit hated that tom mount and would always use a snare stand instead. Hopefully I can either find it or it won't be a huge issue for whoever buys it.
