Hi all,
I'm new on this forum, but I recognize a lot of names here. I have searched until I'm tired of typing. I have a couple basic questions on a 71 Supraphonic. I just bought the shell. I already have a tone control on the way and I have a bid on some vintage lugs. I am looking for an old 12-hole P85 that looks good, etc. I am trying to stay true to the period as much as possible (except for the heads).
What are the stock hoops and tension rods supposed to be? I have tried all kinds of searches and I can't find the answer. I think they are 1.6 mm triple flanged steel hoops and 2" tension rods (measure tip-to-tip). Is this right?
Also, if I bought these new, would that make a difference in the "vintage value"? I have no idea how anyone could spot a "vintage" tension rod, but maybe it's important. This is my first restoration, so forgive my naivete.
Thanks in advance.
