I'd say the '84 for $3938 was pretty extreme. Might have been a bidding war. They usually go for around $3000. I sold an '84 on ebay last year that I thought was nicer than this current one, and it was only bid up to $2400.

Thats funny, I'm the guy that just bought the '89 yesterday and I wasn't familiar with the tube lug version and didnt understand the difference in price either. Possibly condition and the early vintage? I can't find much info on Tamas and I know mostly about Black Beauties. They all sound amazing from that time anyway, so glad mine went for less. I also just got a OCDP 6.5 x 14 Bell Brass from Guitar center for $999 and it sounds really amazing too. Worth the price if someone wants a bell brass and doesn't want to spend the extra money. I'll A B test them when I get the Tama and repost the results for everyone.
