From 55WFL

Anyone have any leads as to where I might find one?

They never made a production kit for the 90th anniversary, only a limited edition numbered snare drum. With that said, Jack Lawton may be able to help you out with getting the wrap to create your own kit if you so desire.

Jack Lawton made a production total of 180 TH&C snares (90 each of 6.5" x 14" and 5" x 14") and only made three full drum kits that went to Bun E. Carlos, Joey Kramer, and Todd Trent (Ludwig Artist Relations). So unless one of those guys were giving up the kit it may not have been the real deal.

As far as obtaining a kit you would have to make direct contact to see if they still have the kits in possession and then let the negotiations begin...

An alternative is to contact Jack Lawton and see if he can reproduce the wrap for you as he did for another customer prior to the official Ludwig project (unless he contratually is prohibited from reproducing the covering again).

Todd Trent's music store went out of business and he was selling a lot of his personal collection. I wonder if the TH&C that 55WFL was speaking of on Ebay was Todd's.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

my old boss todd sold his kit quite awhile back.possibly to bun as i know it wasn't on ebay (or else i would of ended up packing it to ship)

however,it may have been to someone he knew in the biz or even a walk in customer.i know of 3 kits (mentioned above) i wanna say there was a 4th.

todd's kit had a 26". i wanted that kit soooo bad.i didn't even know he was going to sell it.

i seen the kit on ebay mentioned above and i asked him where he got it.since i knew the history of how many and who they went to,i didn't like his answer.plus he said something about extra holes.i believe it was not one of the original 3-4 kits.

i have a pic of todd's kit somewhere.if i find it i'll post it.

That particular drum WAS displayed, unlike what the ad says....it was on display at my late friend Joe Winokur's drum shop in Beverly, Ma. (Joe's Drum Shop) I almost bought it five years ago, but decided on an engraved black beauty instead. The asking price is a bit rediculous, even though it is a limited edition. The seller is the remnants of what was Repercussions (Cherie Willoughbie).

BTW, #72 is still on display in Joe's place.....the family still runs it, but limited hours.

L-D,

Do you remember what the retail price was when you first looked at it?
