A couple WTF items Last viewed: 1 hour ago

The trans stamp seller's item description is legit, IMO. That looks like a well done (and fairly common) repair on a classic cymbal. I have played several cymbals with similar repairs and they do, in fact, add some trashy qualities to the sound but do not adversely affect the overall character of the cymbal.

It worked out alright for Mel...

Isn't that the cymbal bought for $10,000 or more by Charlie Watts?

Charlie Watts has a few like that I think haha. I love his (Charlie's)cymbals......not too shabby of a Gretsch kit too.....the 50's kit...

What about the kit he got from me that they use on the "B" stage?

Just as an aside...

See? Nobody blinks when Charlie Watts sends 10K on a cymbal. But, if someone on a drum forum pays that kind of money for a snare drum or even an entire drum set, then they "paid too much".

Why is that? (asked rhetorically)

:D

Most of us are ordinary 9 to 5ers, Charlie is a multi-millionaire, offends the working-class sensibilities to think a working stiff would spend 10K on one pie. Not so offensive/surprising if a multi-millionaire like Charlie does it.

Psychological thing/response from the members I think. If it was you who was on the receiving end of the criticism, I wouldn't personalize it. Just average guys reacting to an unusually large sticker price. A form of 'sticker shock.'

Too many great drums to list here!
