That's a sweet little kit Osahead2!1966bmx - A Kent kit with, wait... Are those Fibes lugs on a Kent kit?? I only knew Kent to have made one type of lug.

Not Fibes lugs these are Kent lugs . One year only 1968 lug and there is actually another type of Kent lug they made I have seen on some snare drums too that is even more rare . But the Fibes always reminded me of these ...

And yeah Osa those Fibes rule I love the color !

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Do any of those kits ever get played, or are they just window displays?

Well yes, I do play my favorite bop kits but unfortunately other kits do sit around looking pretty while collecting dust...

I have always had a soft spot only heart for Fibes as Cobham played them . The lugs always remind me of these .

1966bmx, I use to idealize Cobham way back during High School in the early 1980s... so much, I talked my parents into a early Tama Superstar bop kit one year for Xmas. I still have it and I will post it soon.

Also, I really like your kit too and yes, I agree those lugs kinda look like Fibes.

Yeah he was one of my early heroes as well . And when I got Spectrum he blew my mind . I was never a big monster set or double bass guy but i remember listening to that record with my jaw on the floor . I still have that record too .

Here's what happened after I saw Billy Cobham with The Mahavishnu Orchestra and then his own bands in the mid to late 70's. I was playing with a 10 piece horn band at the time doing all dance FUNK, and Tower of Power, EW&F, AWB, etc. The "sound" then was a little more thuddy on the toms, so OFF came my bottom heads! After I got that out of my system .. ( no bottom heads I mean! ) .. the bottom heads went back ON... and haven't been off since! Anyway... the pic dates to 1978! I was a much younger guy then!

1973 Fibes Clear Crystalite's

8" and 10" North Drums ( most definitely Billy Cobham's continuing influence! )

Fibes SFT 690/COF set up with Hinger "Touch Tone" snares
