A little help from the experts...? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Firstly, I want to apologize for my lack of knowledge regarding the items I have...

I recently inherited a Pearl drum set and various accessories from a family member who is no longer with us. I hung on to them for a while hoping I would have someone in my life who could appreciate them, unfortunately, after ten years, that ship has sailed.

About three years ago, I took everything to a local band director and discussed value with him. He quoted me around $1750 for all the items.

I am interested in selling them, but do not know what type of price to remain firm on. I know very little about the cymbals and accessories, only that the drum set is Pearl. Ideally, I would like to see all the pieces go to a good home as a lot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Appears to be perhaps late 80s/90s Pearl Exports. Don't know too much about, other than not really vintage. Color is unremarkable, and the deep dimension, 'power toms' are not too popular at the moment. From what I know, Exports are/were considered to be a intermediate level kit - nothing special I'm afraid. Can't comment on the cymbals, but in my opinion, you'd probably be lucky to get half of what your band leader acquaintance suggested. Just my opinion of course.

I hate to burst any bubbles, but DaddyNowhere's hit the nail on the head here. About all I can add is that the particular style of lugs just never became real popular or desireable (over time). It was just a "look" that very few people seemed to like, no matter the brand. IMO, when Ludwig went to those on their Rockers line (1990s?) it was during their darkest times...

I'm sure that if tuned properly and with the proper choice of heads the drums will sound good. And somebody would be excited to own a set configured like this one. They're just not going to bring the kind of money the band director suggested. Hey, that's OK though. The guy who played keyboards for me back in the mid to late 70s has about as many initials behind his name as the Music Education field allows. He's the head guy as far as instrumental music is concerned at one of our colleges here in Kansas. He don't have a clue about the value of instruments that he don't deal with on a day-to-day basis, which a set like this would fall into that category...

BTW, Welcome to the forum!

Welcome! You have a lot of stuff there... traps, cymbals, roto toms, drum kit..

I'm not a guru but I really don't think the band director was THAT far off. None of it is junk... so hey it doesn't feel that wrong to me... seems like that's a really nice total package worth between $1000 and $1500... easy. IMHO!

Not a Guru... just interested..

I had that exact kit about 6yrs ago..

I would say it would be easiler to sell in sections..

The full kit with the stds/snare drum..

A fair price would be @$500/600..

The cymbals (that's a different story)

They look like Zildjians maybe 70s maybe 60s...?

A clr pic of the stamped logo on the outter edge of the cym would help..

Sell these separate...There worth @$90 to $125 each..

If you send me a pic of each cym stamp with size" and possible weight in grams...I can narrow it dwn..

Also incld if theres any cracks / or off-center holes (called keyholing)..

this is when the hole in the middle isn't perfectly rounded / but oval looking.

Selling the drums as a pkg ....then the cyms separately might get you to @

@$1000/$1100..

[email protected] is the fastest way for me to respond..

Hope this helps..

CC: not an expet, just offering an opinion: lots of drums and accessories, seem in VG condition. If you don't want to spend the time selling everything separately, $1750 for the whole shebang seems like a fair price. Imagine the joy a talented HS drummer would get learning to play a fill across all those skins! I know I would have! For what it's worth...

Mind Blowi

Hey wow, thanks everyone for your feedback. This is further than I've gotten on them in years. I should have checked with y'all ages ago.

I will take better, clearer photos of the cymbal stamps and get back to some of you.

I greatly appreciate you all taking time to comment and steer me in the right direction.

Thanks again!
