Not to be too much of a whiner, but how many members here join just to get info for their eBay sale, then never post again. Here's the topic of discussion up for sale on eBay.Not that I'm against finding values or specifics, but I would be curious to know how many members never made it past 1-5 posts.

I think that the answer to your question can be surmised by looking at the other items for sale from the person requestion the info about the drum. Gove a look at this listing, and make your own conclusions. That carpet knee kicker would fit nicely in my drum trap case.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Yep, nature of the beast.....

Some good ones stick around sometimes though, you never know.

BBK: I would wager that it's at least 70% of the listed members. I trolled the member list one dark evening (had a cold, bored stiff). While I didn't count, I didn't recognize most of the names. I did not notice if there was a post / reply count on that list... hey, I was under the influence of NyQuil and was lucky not to be drooling on the keyboard.

Also, I am a 'relative' newcomer... only having been here for a bit over two years. Some of the names I didn't recognize could very well be old timers that lurk but don't comment.

The good ones are the drummers and collectors, not the eBayers.

I personally put myself somewhere closer to the former more so than the latter.....Hmmmm

But if eBay keeps up with their shenanigans, I may just play and have a smaller collection. ;)

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

I can't agree more.

New member here, after picking up a RK and discovering the joy of vintage equipment, I find myself spending more time here. There is so much great information that I am absorbing.

I have been selling off some of my (pristine) contemporary drums in the hopes of making room for some older gear and the headaches of being a seller are mounting. I am nearing my limit with the hoops eBay/PayPal keep inventing.

you guys are gonna get me started,

I get so angry when I look through "see sellers other Items" on ebay and see an ENTIRE hollywood kit pieced out into twentyfive auctions just becase the wrap was scuffed or peeling, these are not wrecked cars being written off by insurance companys. playable drumsets are pulled apart like pigs in slaughterhouses.

I understand if a shell is cracked or warped beyond repair or some idiot kid (like myself) once thought it would be cool to put 80's heavyduty hardware on it. that's why the drums are rare, but to destroy decent drums...

I've got vintage kits that I could sell piecemail and get money for over two or three years time.( I've see the same stuff for years now on ebay.) If I wanted to sell one I'd post it here and let somone who cares about it get it at an agreed apon price not to the highest bidder.

maybe drum companys need to get into selling restoration parts lugs and castings so I dont have to buy from a guy who chopped up a super classic so I can get a cob hoop for my clubdate.

auto manufactuers licence out there old designs to reproduction companys. Guitar companys also make repro parts. why not for drums.

original fender neckplates and parts still fetch big money even thogh tere are hundreds of repros. the drum company's could be making money direct market online and cut out GC.... just a thought.

Hello again folks. I am the original poster and am sorry if I offended anyone by sharing this rare drum with your forum. Yes I was looking for people with good knowledge pertaining to this drum so that I could properly list and describe it on Ebay. I know of no other place to put it up for sale and depend on the funds I make from the sale to help me provide for my Diabetic wife, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 4 rabbits and 9 fish. The price that I came up with was my own doing and I appreciate the info that was given to me. No I am not a collector of drums but having discovered such an interesting early Leedy I thought that the best thing to do was get all of the accurate info that I could then let Ebay offer it to someone who could give it a good home. I don't think that forums of any kind should be limited to just serious collectors but if you do I understand and respect your thoughts on the matter. Thanks anyway for offering such a great forum and 1000 pardons to all that I annoyed.Bowing

Personally, I have no problem with a newbie posting for info regarding a sale. Periodically, I might just be the buyer...
