A Unique Rogers Set-up Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Attached are a few photos of a somewhat unique Rogers set-up that is on eBay right now and had been on the Simi Valley Craigslist a couple of months ago. Idrum4fun and I had been looking at it and considering it, but someone beat us to it. Price is now considerably higher.

It is equipped with Sta-tite FT legs, a rail mount and knobby arc spurs. I've never seen another kit like it. One of the remarkable aspects is that the knobby spurs were more expensive in the 1962 catalog than the disappearing Swiv-o-matic spurs. Details of the spurs attached. I already have a similar red sparkle set with the Swiv-o-matic spurs, tom mount and knobby FT legs (plus I know the Craigslist price), so I'm going to let this one pass. Nevertheless, it does appear to be a rather unique set in a very popular color, 20, 12, 14 sizes and might be of interest to you Rogers guys who like to grab the unusual piece from time to time.

Dan, Thanks for posting this for the later drums that pop up with those spurs. They are factory original but rarely seen. I have a set of them in the parts case. They are the early 2 hole in plate knobby. Did they make them with a 4 hole regular knobby plate in the beavertail era on your set? The only other time I remember seeing them is on the following record album covers.

Hey Gary,

The drums are not mine. They are for sale on eBay right now. Just search Rogers Red Sparkle and they should come up. Great album photos you've added to the exchange here and very much appreciated. Interestingly, the set in those photos uses a Swiv-o-matic tom holder. The set on eBay uses a rail consolette.

I know those drums and had a chance to buy them before the current owner bought em . I am still kicking myself for not picking them up . They cleaned up nicely

Early 1958 gullwing spurs and a rail instead of a Swivo mount. Makes me wonder if they were drilled out for beavertail lugs. Could of just been ordered that way...

The dating chart goes up to 40K in 1963 and his set is 38K serial numbers. Should have the first generation beavertail with the large screws that cause post cracks if over tensioned. He states in the ad no extra holes or mods. It must be original. Very unique.

1966bmx,

You are not the only one kicking yourself, but realistically, I didn't need them.

As for Gary N's comment on the first generation Bv lugs, I'm just learning a bit about them. I've been more focused on the later 60's stuff. I like 68's in particular, but I have a 64 with serial numbers in the 40k range and a 66 in the mid 50's right now. I'll have to check the lugs some day.

PS - Here's my '66 displayed against my very old block wall garage in ME this summer. I'm sure the walls are at least a decade older. New concrete floor this year though!! Those are, unfortunately, back in storage for the winter. Hope to get a few chances to use them next year.

Great looking set of drums Dan ! I am not a player at the current price plus shipping back to Ca. I should have bought them when they were quite a bit lower and here locally in California. I totally screwed the pooch as they say .
