A quote from Sammy Davis Jr. talking about Buddy Rich
If you ever decide to drive up there, I'll go with you... I've got two fresh baseball bats!
So sorry to hear this. You're one of the good guys and don't deserve being screwed over this way. No one does.
John
Sorry about your bad luck. It's a horrible feeling to be screwed over by someone. Don't let him get to you. Stay the better person that you are.
Definitely make peace and move on.
On a vintage car forum, I bought a set of spindles for my 65 Mustang. They turned out to be totally worthless, worn out pieces of crap that were misrepresented. He said he would take them back. In the process of complaining, I found out that the person's father had literally died that week. I wrote an email saying I would wait a month or so; me getting my money back promptly didn't mean anything compared to even a stranger losing a father. After a month, he gave me his address etc, and asked me to mail them back. After he gets them, out of the blue, he sends me less than half of my money back, and tells me I waited too long to send them back, so I would not be getting a full refund. He said I should be happy even getting half back. Can you believe that s$%t?

Sadly honesty in sellers and business in general is getting few and far between these days.....I pride myself in being as honest as possible when selling something here on the forum, or on CL or Ebay. It just isn't worth the hassle and aggravation of intentionally misrepresenting something just to make a buck. If its junk, I'll tell you up front its junk....but like the saying goes...one man's junk is another's treasure.
Look past the surface... people that take advantage of others, either by deceiving them or out and out stealing from them - do not feel good about themselves-. They have to live inside their own skin -knowing- that they are scum-bags. 24/7 "No matter where you go, there you are."
It's a psychological issue and one involving the soul. (if you believe in that.) I would rather be the honest guy that got taken advantage of, than the guy who took advantage. I can 'get over' being fooled. The guy who fooled me has to look at himself in the mirror everyday and know the ugly truth about himself.
Not to wax religious because I am not, but wise words are wise words... 'Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.'
55 - Stay mad until it dissipates, because it will. If you want to mine some gold from the experience, allow the anger to mellow into pity for that guy. Truth is, in order to treat others that way, you have to be pretty f'ked up. Underneath it all, looking beyond all the superficial stuff... he's a bent-soul, a spiritual misfire, in need of help. Trust in Karma... what goes around, comes around!
Ok, I'm off the Soap Box Geez, I hope I didn't come off too preachy or like Yoda! Just trying to make my friend feel better and with hopes that the culprit will get to read this and find out what people think of his behavior. He'll read it alright. The bad guy always returns to the scene of the crime...

55 sorry to hear. I went back and looked and the guy only had 2 posts. 1 asking about the kit and 2 thanking the member for the info. Hasn't been on since 7-30-12. Looks like a hit and run. I hope your able to salvage the kit somehow. It's a cool kit none the less.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I have a lot of experience in shipping across borders. It is one of the major problems , when buying almost anything from another country. The next few bits of information , I am going to share, should be put in flashing lights ,complete with bells and whistles at the top of the home page of this forum.
Never ever, unless you absolutely have to, or you need the item(s), in a flash ,use a shipper other than the post office for international shipping.
I have received over 1000 shipments ,through the mail: drums, parts, violins(several of them over 300 years old),microscopes, binoculars, guitars, innumerable parts, cymbals, delicate glass lab equipment, watches,***ellry, seeds, scionwood, live fruit tree buds, electronic equipment, antique kitchen equipment----almost you name it:
Less than 10% of my received shipments have been by courier companies and of the 6 or so major problems I have had, they account for 3 of them. Also, the post office is too stressed to monitor any more than about 20% of packages, while the couriers monitor them all, because they can charge fees( entry fees, brokerage fees, duty and taxes) and make even more money. Even if the post office looks into your package, they charge minimal processing fees. The same package , that just had 60.00 levied onto it by U.P.S. , would have had about 15.00 added onto it by the post office. Postal shipments are sometimes slightly more money( they charge a flat rate country to country---the couriers charge by distance) and can be slightly slower but the shipping is at least as secure and for long distance shipments( Ontario to California , say) ,much cheaper.
With drums, there becomes one other issue. You can't ship a 22" , through the post office but you can ship a 20, if you make a kind of round box, for it. A lot can be put inside that drum.
Insurance is a whole other issue, which needs to be dealt with separately, but basically it is a rippoff. You almost never need it but when you do, it's impossible to collect---especially internationally. and incidentally, in case you are wondering---i had nothing to do with the topic of this thread.
its sad out there, when i sell anything if the buyers not happy for any reason ill give him or her a full refund including shipping i tell it like it is I have 100 % +feed back on flease bay for a reason, I value my customers, more so here because we r connected like a brotherhood of sorts ....

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
