Advice. Last viewed: 1 hour ago

As some if not all are aware my VERY IST EVER " professional" &original band is going in tomorrow night to lay down &record 2 songs for a compilation cd that gets released worldwide to coincide with the 'Viva Las Vegas" rockabilly show in Nevada in easter 2015.I've been asked as to whether or not i want to be paid by the hour or song.

As this's my VERY 1ST EVER recording session i'm more then happy to do it for free as i feel (either rightly or wrongly) that it's expereince that you could never get anywhere else&feel it's invaluable to me.

My dilemna&question is: what's both the cons&pros of either getting paid per hour or per song?,

I have NO IDEA as to HOW much to ask for either payment per hour or per song!.As the singer&her bass playing husband have been burnt before they're insisting i choose either payment option!,

What to choose/do? :(.

Wow... after doing some reading about how this whole process of payment in studios works I can see why nobody is offering advice... many options.

It seems like most common was union musicians agree on an hourly rate (maybe you can find out the local union rate) but have minimum hour block time... like 3 hours. But they aren't band members.

I don't know... lots of factors to consider I guess.

Not a Guru... just interested..
