I'm a Slingy guy so all my life, so this will be my first Luddy purchase and I want a Supraphonic.

But I can't decide. I don't want to spend more than $400 and my choices are many.

I can get a new B grade 402, a 90's 402 like new, keystone 60's 5", 70's 5" and so on and so on.

I really want a Supra. I THINK I want a 70's 402 because Bonham is my favorite drummer with my favorite sound...BUT I'm not sure I need a 402. If not a 402, is it a 400? 60's? 70's?

TOO MANY CHOICES...but I want one now.

I'm leaning towards a new B grade olive rounded badge 402 with no serial number for $419, but I'm not sure.

I'm an average player but I really like and think I NEED a Supra.

I have a 1971 5x14 Supraphonic that has a great tuning range and great projection..There's a reason why it's labeled the most recorded snare drum in history. They're also not as expensive as a 60's era snare drum, and sound pretty much the same, unless it's a chrome over brass..

I have the Ludaloy shell, same as on the acrolites.. Hope that helps you out in your decision. ;)

Damn, I wish you hadn't said that because the 70's 402 is actually what I really want. Now you just confirmed it...I think :)
