And... THANK YOU! And please be sure to say thank you to Alex for me. Those sticks are going on display on the wall right behind my drums!

Cool! Stage Band2

PS - Vinny - In the first photo, is that a set of brass Rogers Timbales on top of that pile??? The lugs look like Beavertails! How much are you looking to get for those? PM me....

Too many great drums to list here!

I wore the grooves out on my Heavy Weather LP. Love that album. Still have it. I have always liked Alex Acuna. I may be interested in one of those Cajon's.

I saw Alex in clinic around 20-25 years ago. Being in a rural area, the store had to borrow the "correct" line of drums for the clinic. I'm sure he got paid or new heads or whatever. Anyway, the kit belonged to a fairly young kid who must have busted his hump to buy the Yamaha kit. The look on that poor kids face when Alex started to play on the side (shell) of his toms.... I thought he was going to cry.

Great post. You are a lucky man and it's great we got to hear about it.

From tnsquint

I did not know that. I always thought Jaco was a brilliant musician and can hardly bear to think that he just threw that away. The 70's were are really tough time for musicians.

Jaco loved his music; but battled severe medical problems that were undiagnosed; and so untreated. I met Jaco and even played with him; he was a very intelligent and spiritual person. Life just got on top of him.

Alex Acuna is just one reason why I joined Drumchannel. $5 a month. I could honestly just watch him and all his sessions on DC over and over again and still be happy to pay that. A joy to watch and learn from.
