Until I got nearly 30 responses the same evening. I bought them new around 1972 as my first set. They need cleaning but are in decent shape. I was going to sell all three for $50 until I discovered the huge interest. Please tell me what would be a more realistic price. Thanks.
Almost Sold PowerTone Rogers on CraigsList... Last viewed: 29 minutes ago
I'll give you $75.00 for them ;)
Just kidding. It looks like they are missing some key parts - bottom hoops, lug screws, rubber tips on the floor tom legs, etc...
This , plus not having a snare, will take away from the price, but I know that they are worth way more than $50.00.
$500.00, $800.00???
Rogers experts please chime in!!
Thanks Big Daddy, it means a lot particularly because of the sentimental value to me personally. So many gigs and good times!
No problem. I wish I could give you an accurate price, but Rogers aren't my "brand".
If you have the missing parts, you should put everything back together. It will increase the value a ton, especially if they are all original Rogers parts.
Not sure about the Powertone series, but I've seen other Rogers kits from the 60's selling for huge bucks. $4,000.00 for 4 or 5 piece kits in great shape isn't unheard of.
Hey TommyP - We need your help here!!!
Clark Kent!... are you callin' me??!! LOL!! Actually I didn't even see this post until just now... so with that being said:
My Rogers knowledge sits in a very specific time area, from 1960 to 1970 to be exact, particularly the years from 1960 to 1967 as those were the BR years... and I have to admit freely and with no shame, I am a BR addict. Anyway!... I can tell this much from the pics here: These are the "later" Swivo-Matic series drums, hence the year/label with the name Powertone as opposed to Holiday, which all mine are. The drums are indeed missing pieces as big daddy has pointed out, plus the collett noses/mounts are of the CAST variety, and I do see the typical stress cracks in them as well. Still, these ARE nice sounding drums! Probably the best thing would be to get them all cleaned/detailed and back together as that will indeed increase the value as big daddy has already mentioned. It appears to me to be the "Londoner Five" which was quite a popular Rogers outfit of the time. Even all cleaned and completely back together I don't think they would fetch any more than $1000.00 or so, and probably less as there is no snare drum or hardware outside of the normal mounts/legs. The snare drum that would have come with this set would have been the Rogers COB Powertone... pretty easy to find! So...
As is: Probably around $200.00 to $300.00. All cleaned/detailed and back together: $500.00. Just my opinion of course. They could conceiveably do better than that too! But most certainly worth way more than $50.00 even in their present state.
Tommyp
Thanks Tommy!!! So I was off on the initial price of $500.00 as is. Dang! Like I said, not my brand. I'd *like* them to be my brand, but alas the budget rears it's ugly head. I suppose I could own one nice Rogers kit, for what I've spent on all the Kent's I've bought... Nah... I'll keep the Kent's.
Besides, my bud PhillyJoe has a nice Holiday set I can borrow anytime I want... I think :)
He secretly lusts after my Kent's ... I just know it :)

Ha......I was one of the guys lusting after those...I had my nephew who lives in Orlando e-mail you and make an offer .....he was ready to ship them up to NY for me......I hoped to turn them into a project, break them down totally, replace what was needed and use as my gigging kit for a pretty good price........good luck ....with them
[COLOR="DarkRed"]If I may repspectfully disagree...despite the missing parts...this is a 4-pc. kit so it SHOULD fetch more than $200-300 used market value.
Letting it go for $200+ would be a crime...particularly if they mean something to you.
If you were selling this for $275...dang, I would be ALL OVER IT INSTANTLY. Enough of it is still there and intact. It's still swivomatic era...crap...that's a nice set of drums, dude !!!!
You shouldn't sell for under $400. Someone will have stolen it from you if it goes for less than that. I can guarantee that you will feel mighty awful in the morning if you do. Don't rush the sale.
Looks like it's missing some hoops and what...t-rods ???? Collets can be replaced, original Rogers hardware of that era is plentiful on eFlay and with about $50-100 expenditure in Rogers parts on eFlay....someone can have the set complete again.

I suggest the "Rogers Drum Book" - I just bought that, the Slingerland book and another vintage drum book and learned a $#%tload of stuff. It will help with knowing your drums.
Thanks fellow drum enthusiasts. You all have been a tremendous help. If I can convince the little lady, I'll hang on to the Rogers since knowing what I've learned. My son beat my Zildjians to death with his death metal band but I still have the original Rogers bass pedal and a Ludwig Speed King from the era.
