I am going to try to sell the 1939 Ludwig and Ludwig set I showed you all a while ago.
Is $900 way off as a starting point?
Please help me.
Just threw this pic up as a refresher. You could go back to check out the other pics in my old post.
I've never seen the snare drum totally, how much paint is missing if any? But this is a high price for these drums, the bass drum will need paint, stain or wrap the size and that it is single tension are not in there favor, also the tom is the same thing single tension, and lots of paint loss! but good luck!
The snare has the least amount of paint loss. Not to bad at all actually. There are lots of pics on my old thread of the snare.
I am also selling the hi hat and the kick pedal and other cymbal mount arms and spurs with it. Thought this made the deal pretty decent.
I don't remember what all came with this kit? The real money drum is the snare drum, the bass drum and mounted tom are the Achilles heel, they are both large and single tension, this type kit has a limited market, someone that is going to collect this type kit, are two types either they want it turn key where the kit is perfect or near perfect one that needs no restoration, or the collector that can perform all the work that will be necessary on this kit, the first guy will pass because it's not turn key, the second guy will low ball you due to the fact he knows what it will cost to restore and purchase this type kit has a limited market, the kit, just looked over the hardware, on ebay all of this would sell $175.00 the cymbal arms go cheap, the bass pedal may go for 35.00-50.00 the hi hat stand is missing the clutch and the cymbal arms are missing the wing nuts, this will be a tough sell at your price. But then again there is always the chance that this one guy needs this kit?
Thank you.
So is it possible to sell the snare for $4-500?
Add on the hardware you mentioned for $175.
Add what for the tom and bass drum? I am kinda surprised the tom and bass drum would be so undesireable. I love the big sizes.
Appreciate the help VM2000!
Can you post the snare drum pics link?, with it being duco paint $400.00 would be on the high side but possible, ten years ago that snare drum would of sold for $600.00 easy, but not now, it's the condition of the shells more than the sizes of the bass drum and tom and the fact they are single tension, they have a small market. I'll give you an example I bought a 40's leedy kit with a 6 1/2x14 Broadway snare drum,9x13 and 12x14" toms and 14x28" bass drum all the stands, cymbals wood bloc and cowbell and the mounts and bass drum spurs for $800.00 here is a pic of the bass and snare.

Sweeet Drums by the way!
The paint on the snare drum is in fair condition, my leedy is just as old as your ludwig is and mine is duco also. On ebay not long ago a Leedy just like mine sold for $350.00, so yours is in that range $300.00 or so, can I ask why are you selling them?
Running out of space in my music room and could use the money.
Part of me would like to strip them and do something but I dont see myself keeping them anyway so I would rather let the long term owner decide what to do with them.
