Do any companies make a starlight sparkle or anniversary sparkle wrap? If so are they close to the org. gretsch wraps? thanks

Keith - none that I was able to ascertain. I was looking for piece of starlight sparkle to re-do a faded floor tom in a 59' Ludwig kit I had. Couldn't find that wrap anywhere. That was three years ago. Unless somebody did a run of it in the interim, it's going to be a tough item to find anywhere.

Precision makes computer generated copies of wraps, but it never seems to be quite the same as the original.

Oh wait I see 18x20. Never heard of that. Do you know if that was special ordered or was a option in 59?

The 'burgundy sparkle' label was my mistake. I didn't know what else to call it at the time. It -is- starlight sparkle! I wrote to Wm. F. Ludwig III and inquired about this kit. His 'best guess' is, that it was a special order, or presentation kit from the company to one of its endorsees. It's a one-off kit in a finish that was never used in production line drums. The wrap goes into the seams. The 'story' I was told by the guy I bought the kit from (via Music-Go-Round,) was that; the kit was owned by his (University) music teacher who was a retired jazz drummer from the 50's/60's. His teacher was retiring from the University and offered the kit to his oldest student. (The guy I bought them from.)

My ace-coon-boon Mike Layton is the current care-taker of the kit. When I first got them, I 'considered' rewrapping the floor tom which was the only drum in the kit that was faded. I changed my mind the second I found out how rare the kit was. No way I was going to alter it in any fashion.

Let me know if you find any starlight sparkle wrap anywhere! I'll buy a half dozen full-sheets immediately! To start, I'll rewrap my Oaklawn Camco orphans in it!!!!!
