Another Ebay Question Last viewed: 1 minute ago

From backbeatkeeper

FYI Mikey, when I have something delivered at work, I inform my co-workers and if there is ANY damage to the box, I take photos of it. Just in case.Hold your ground, tell them to ship it back and there cost and provide a full refund less the shipping back. If you note that on your auctions, you're covered.I got into a HUGE disagreement and ultimately eBay stepped in. I told the person to send the item back at his cost and I would refund it, he kept holding out for a "discount". I told him no discounts, only refunds, but you ship back on your dime. I ultimately won the case with eBay, as he didn't ship it after they told him to. He left a negative feedback before he opened the case with eBay. I had eBay remove the feedback after a phone call.Ebay is heavy laden with fees and sometimes a hassle, but if you have all your ducks laid out correctly (read:description like a lawyer did it) it can be profitable. Those who know me personally also know that I rarely back down when I know I've done the right thing.......Good Luck

What is that phone number please?

You can PM if you want........

Hello Mr. Mike T: Looks like everyone is putting in there 2 cents on this one. So as a full time Ebay seller for over 10 years with well over 4000 feedback. For what it's worth. my 2 cents woud be to stick by your description & tell them no return or refund of any kind. That is the only way to know! if they are trying to pull a fast one by getting you to give a partial refund & they get to keep them (for less). If they realy want to send them back for a full refund then they will have to open up a item not as decribed case with paypal. Paypal will respond that there crack investigation team is investigating the case & will let you know whose favor they decide in. However 99.9% of all cases are decided in the buyers favor! To make a long story short I found in most cases it's better to let paypal handle it. that way the buyer must ship back at there cost in a short amount of time & they must included a tracking number on the package & must post it in the paypal transaction. If it come back to you not in the same condition as you sent it, then paypal will rule in your favor & you get all cost back & can relist them. Now PITA buyer most likely will leave you neg feedback. But as an honest seller as Im sure you are! Honest buyers will not be afraid to buy from you! And That 's da fact Jack... :D

Mikey that's makes me wonder if he used the cymbal and smacked the $#it out of it and cracked and dented it himself? Either way eBay is a pia as others have said. But a good selling tool to a worldwide market. Hope you can get it worked out. G.

Cracks and dents NOT showing up in the photos? ;) I guess they can want and want and want. IF your policy clearly stated that all items are sold as-is... it seems to me they don't have a leg to stand on. I think Glenn may be right here: he broke it and now wants his money back! I would just let it go for awhile and do nothing. Don't answer him. And, IF he ends up leaving you negative feedback you can appeal that to eBay and likely get the NF removed.

The more I hear about this the more it seems like a scam to me...

Well I used to be an eBay power seller with over 700 feedback. In my experience two things are true. 1, the customer is usually right, though not always, and 2, whether they are right or not, in the long run if there is a dispute of any kind you almost always are going to lose no matter what. The best thing to do is cut your losses by accepting the return but don't pay the return shipping, that's on them and most don't have a problem with that, in fact I've never had anyone complain about return shipping.

Then as others have suggested, once you get the returned merchandice examine it, if it's clearly an unfair criticism on the buyers part, block them and never do business with them again. It's about all you can do anyway.

I used to not accept returns and it only got me in to trouble, way too many headaches. In the end ebay or paypal always forced me to accept the return anyway. I changed to a very liberal return policy. No questions asked automatic refund minus return shipping and sales fees. You know what? My return rate didn't change much. Sellers on ebay always get screwed, it's why I dumped it, but if you are going to stay there, then you will have to get used to it.

This is a perfect example of why people should try to buy from each other here on this forum, I feel there is a very low d-bag ratio here. I look at EBAY every day at vintage Slingerland, Ludwig, Rogers, Leedy, WFL and Sonor kits and for the past 2 years the only kit I have felt comfortable buying was a set of 50's Slingy GK's from a forum member here. Too many scammers and losers out there, I am much more comfortable hereYes Sir

I would completely ignore him, forever. IF you know you sold him a good cymbal, then that's it. Done. Next transaction............
