I don't recall a shell like this from Ludwig.
Is this another fake?

Have you forgotten the granitone inside finish period? Or was it something else you think is fake?
Not only is that drum legit, those granitone shell jazzfests sound GREAT! I recently rewrapped one for a friend of mine. Killer sounding snare drum.

"Another fake"?...looks legit to me.
I remember that brownish granitone being on some of the Rocker drums, but not on the thickish 6-ply maple shells from the rounded b/o badge era. It looks odd to me on that drum. For that matter, I don't recall ever seeing grey granitone on shells without re-rings; they're either plain maple, or Rockers with the brown coating. Hmmm...
Bermuda, Mark - I recently rewrapped one of those 80's J-fests for MLayton. Same heavy shell, no re-rings, Granitone interior. It may in fact be a drum that was cobbled together from parts, but I have seen that shell before with an 80's B/O badge, just like that one - and recently too.

mine looked/looks just like that on the interior. 84 ludwig catalog has the chrome wrapped one listed as a 4ply though. mine is just like that but wrapped in galaxy sparkle reissue.

I have a 80"s Ludwig S/L 8 lug snare that has the exact same shell. The only difference between that drum and mine is the lugs are Standard style lugs and the badge is black and white.
