Any Hope Removing the Yellow From This Bad Boy?? Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Any hope of removing any of the yellowing to be somewhat acceptable??? Any suggestion/help is much appreciated. I've search this forum and didn't find any encouragement in so far as removing any or part of the yellow but I thought I'd ask just the same.

Good evening Mr. Phelps. 1st I'd try waxing it. Remove all the lugs and give it a good waxin. If that dont work, try 3m plastic headlight polish. If that dont work take it to a good body shop painter and have him compound it and polish it. If that dont work, I disavow this advice. Heh..thanks for the advice. I see a bright side to all this...I think. Having read all that I've found about wet sanding etc. and the risk of damage etc, I can actually go for your advaice and anything else that's out there without any concern about ruining the finish because I can't see it getting any worst. Besides, it not a part of my kit that i can't afford to mess up. Hell, now I feel better already.

oh yes you can fine wet sand it with 1000 grit sand paper and then compund it and polish it................

Try Wrights silver polish(paste) a couple of times followed by good old car wax, once again the paste kind( carabris? or something). It has always worked for me. Try it a few times, and after you try all thats been suggested here take pictures of your drums outside in the sunlight you will see a world of difference. Really, nothing makes drums look worst than taking pictures in poor lighting inside a room, especially the pearl wrap thats on your drums, not being negative just truthful. Trust me i,ve made that mistake before.

Sanding with a really fine sandpaper then polishing will work but its a pretty drastic measure IMHO.

I think the headlight polishing method is your best shot, although i,ve had good success with Wrights silver polish and car paste wax.

I've had some success using a solution of vinegar and water with many clean rags. After alot of time and elbo grease, apply a quality car wax to em and enjoy your labor of love.

Can't remove it all due to uv light and the aging process, but mine are 40+ years old, so I'm happy with what I got.
