It has all to do with encomy, just like everything else. Who do you blame? Well I know who I blame, but since you're not allowed to talk about politics here and he will soon be gone and forgotten, I won't mention his name.

me too.....

Oh...You sly dog. You thought that you could slip it in here. But, you can't get away with that in here. If that post remains, and is not removed by the admistrators, I guess that all bets are off for political crap in here.

LBDP!

Oh I don't know "that all bets are off for political crap in here" as... in the giant realm of "political crap", JR's comments were tame, and thus shall remain. It was more of a "read between the lines" type comment, and as such will be read over without ruffling too many feathers I suspect. As far as full blown political arguments/discussions here, well yes... that is frowned upon. But hey, whatever the reason... values are DOWN just like disposable income is down. As to the reason for that, well...

Tommy!

I'm disappointed. I come here to get away from "political crap," whether it's full-on or "read between the lines." Allowing the latter just leaves the door open for others to push the envelope.

If I went to a political message board and started a discussion about vintage drums, I'm sure that most people there would view that in a negative light.

I'm a big boy: I can handle mild snark on this forum if someone has to vent about a politician, whether or not I voted for him or her. But why should I have to?

Read between the lines... I won't mention any names either...

12 million new jobs.

A stock market that has more than doubled.

National deficits that have been cut by two-thirds.

Health care inflation at the lowest rate in nearly 50 years.

Manufacturing coming back.

Auto industry coming back.

Clean energy doubled.

See? I left room between the lines for reading!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Surely you're trying to remember the persons name who came up with the planned obsolescence concept? I believe that was Alfred P Sloan. There, I said it.

Regarding the OP, I think great sounding instruments will always be in demand by the musicians who care about individuality of sound. The trends come and go, but a great sounding instrument will always be sought after.

Oh. Good. Grief. GUYS!... in the spirit of complete transparency and full disclosure, I must admit that my leaving said lite "political crap" was an experiment... a toe dipped into the water, just to see what would, or would not, happen. Well... there be sharks in that there water! Truthfully, what I was actually interested in and curious about, was if JR's "comment" would not be given any attention, with discussion returning to the OP's actual question. ( and if you re-read my original post, you will notice I mentioned the comment being read OVER without ruffling too many feathers ) That was of course NOT the case! So... in light of that, this thread will be CLOSED for business, and then gently fade away into the sunset, and we shall return to the matters that we handle/discuss best here: Vintage Drums! THANK YOU for your participation!
