Any Paiste Colorsound Junkies? Last viewed: 54 minutes ago

Loading...

I've been a lover of all things Colorsound since the 1980's. My first Colorsound was a blue and a green Colorsound cymbal pin. I gave one to a bird I fancied. The other got nicked... :(

Then I traded for a red Colorsound5 crash in 1990. I loved that sound of cymbal. It's just different. I also had a blue label 602 I won't get into how I lost it...

I then did Zilly Z customs 'cos I thought I had to be more sophisticated and like Zillys...

Well, I got hooked on Colorsound coated Paistes ONCE AGAIN!!! I bought the Slipknot/Joey Jordison set. Yes, I am probably the oldest buyer of those who DIDN'T buy them for their kid!!!! I did jettison the 20" Metal Ride in favour of the 22" Stewart Copeland Blue Bell Ride (good choice IMO). I also wasn't keen on the JJ Rock China (which was replaced by a Ddrum Carmine Appice Shade cymbal that I am customising). I have a 17", 18" JJ Rock Crashes,14" SE JJ hats, and a custom-ordered Alpha Medium Crash (black w/red logos) and a 16" 2K2 in black, as well as a 8" Visions splash.

I want a full set of blue ones, next. But I also have to fight the temptation to get a set of white Alphas or 2K2's...

Anyone?

From Stallwart

I have a red Colorsound 16" I've used as a wall clock for almost 20 years.

That's a good use for them, I'm a Paiste guy through and through, but the color sounds where or are not my cup of tea! I've played and owned, 2002's, 602's, Rude's, Dimensions, Signature, and Traditional's, and of course I don't like all the cymbals in those lines. I like a very traditional sound and color sounds were not it for me.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I do think Colorsounds are a love 'em or hate 'em proposition. I love them (as do many who drive up the bids on good examples of vintage ones on the 'bay), but others don't. I don't know why I love them so much. I hate them when the colour coat comes off.

The Colorsound coating dries out the cymbal *just* enough for me. They also look great onstage.
