Yes, I actually have played the spoons, and the washboard!
Ludwig Vistalite Big Beat set consisting of:
14” X 22” bass, 16” X 16” floor tom, 8” X 12” ride tom, 9” X 13” ride tom, 5” X 14” snare
Ludwig 201 Speed King bass drum pedal
Ludwig 1124 Spur-lok hit-hat with Ludwig Standard Paiste 14” cymbals (760 & 770 gr) with ching-ring
Two Ludwig Standard S-270 cymbals stands
18” Zildjian crash cymbal (1550 gr) and 20” Zildjian ride cymbal (2130 gr) with CAMCO sizzler
Gibraltar motorcycle seat-style drum throne with backrest
I have also played the spoons, but only the attached or connected type (pic below). Holding and playing actual spoons in one hand is a little trickier and requires technique, but not impossible to learn. It would not be difficult to attach two spoons to a handle yourself rather than buying the instrument version.

LMAO.
Never thought I'd see a thread about this here.
Of course I play the spoons.

"unless it's vintage, it's just another wooden tube."
My relatives were an old French family from Canada. Of course I play spoons. We had fiddle, piano, guitar, washboard and mouth organ and no one could read music but we had a hell of a time.

My dad was an excellent Spoon player, also the Bones. He was somewhat infamous for "borrowing" a pair of soup spoons from the hostess when someone started playing music at a party. He'd promptly ruin them by bending them to a "playable" shape. I'm a fair spoon player (enough to impress my friends), but nothing like my dad...he was really good. Here's a photo of his favorite spoons. You can see the bottom of the bowls are flattened from striking together.
