Anybody still use? Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I was just watching an old clip of Elvin Jones from about 1979, and they were showing a closeup of his bass drum foot work...He was using a moleskin pad on the bass drum head with a wood beater. Does anyone still use these pads, and if so, where can I get one?

I always used cheap belt blanks from a leather store and cut sections off, then used impact adhesive. I stopped using wood beaters (Danmar) when I found some hard rubber ones in Pro Drums many years back and bought them all. Over the years, as they oxidised, they became more prone to powdering and wore down faster. I'm almost out; I don't suppose anyone knows of any, do they?

Well...I grabbed a pak of these this morning, self-adhesive, square moleskin pads. Fit them to my 18" and my 22" Ludwigs......we'll see how it sounds and how long they last!

ive been using a wooden ludwig beater with moleskin pads for years. moleskin pads can also be cut and adhered to hoop clamp items to keep from messing up the hoops.

Dr. Scholls has been tending to my bass drums podiatary needs since it came into my possession in 1965. Hmmm, that patch has been on there way more years than I even want to think about. I think it's time for replacement.
