Never seen him before in my life he says sarcastically
Cheers, really enjoyed that.
Saw him once live in the very late part of his career and not long before he passed away. He was starting become a bit feeble, but he still played pretty hard. I have his autograph over the Louis-Bellson twin bass page of my Rogers 67/68 catalog. Check out his solo from 1967 on the Tube. Really excellent and in that case he is working in a quintet and still double bass drums. It's amazing he was wailing on double 22 or 24" bass drum while most of the jazz was being played on small kits.
PS - Notice the REMO drums. Ever try to pick one up?
