Thank you for all who have responded with kind words.

FYI, the short side of the story is that all of the family is here and the decision has been made. All life support will be removed at 8:00 tonight, and the DRs are convinced it will not be long after that.

I should be able to get weights on the cymbals sometime this weekend...

Thanks

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Bill prayers sent. Not a easy thing to go through. Went through the same thing in Feb with my Dad. Very hard to watch someone you love dearly slowly slip away. My thoughts and heart are with you all.

BTW -- a brief update on my dad, as I do very much appreciate the kind words, thoughts, and prayers.

My dad passed away very peacefully at appr. 9:22 pm (CDT) Thursday 8/6, in the presence of his wife (my mom, of course) of nearly 67 years; all 4 of his children and their spouses, and three of his 8 grandchildren. None of the great-grandchildren (11, I think) were old enough to be present, but 2 of them were there.

Bill,

Please accept my heart-felt condolences on the passing of your dad. It's great that this occurred with family at his side. I lost both my parents in the last 2 years and both were at home. They were married over 60 years. While I miss them both, I have wonderful memories of each. Especially of how much they supported my drum playing! Wishing you all the best.
