Don't knock Dad's car or Granddad's car.....some of those old Buicks were pretty quick! Remember the GranSport and the Grand National? ;)I get what you are saying though.....Slingerland had an image problem to the youth back then.....much like Mopar did in the early 60's......they were some ugly cars in the 61-63 time frame.....but man were they fast! :p

I agree. The Skylark Gran Sports of the sixties and early seventies had much better fit and finish and were generally equally as fast as their Chevrolet and Pontiac counterparts, however the Chevelle Super Sports and Pontiac GTOs are still more sought after and typically command more money. The Buicks are undervalued much like Slingerland which I feel are as good or better than any vintage drum.

Well, whatever the case, the posting is now gone, so I suspect it was a ruse, as the poster never returned my email, and I had to have been one of the first responders.

Maybe it will show up somewhere. I don't see the eBay post.

Makes you wonder why people bother in the first place......I mean, ebay scam I get, but how do you scam someone on CL when its a "meet in person" type of transaction? DOH

Purdie Shuffle, I like your theory. Slingerland also began cheapening their product which only further blurred the lines between them and their offshore competition. I believe Slingerland's biggest mistake was not fully embracing the rock and roll community. They needed a Ringo or Bonham to attract the younger drummers. Instead Gene Krupa was the main spokesman from the 30's through most of the 60's followed by mostly "older" drummers. Slingerlands became like Buicks, your dad's car or now your grand dad's car!

Naa, it's because Slingerland has three syllables in their name. It's as good a theory as any.flowers2

Don't get the CL scam either.

My Aurora HO AMX slot car was the fastest of the bunch. This isn't mine but still have it. Friends AMX was one of the fastest cars in town. Built Nova II's could get it. My 390 Cougar never could. Glenn can attest to the Gran Nats.
