something in pictures of this listing looks weird to me. i don't know if i'm missing out here but these lugs don't look like authentic gretsch lugs like they are claimed to be.

I agree with vm2k, looks right to me, though I haven't owned a Gretsch drum in the last couple of years. The inserts are usually longer and protrude more, that might be what looks odd to you.

really though? because i have some 60s RB gretsch drums and when i look at the lugs on mine there are slight differences.

on my lugs, the parts that the screw goes into it sticks out a bit so that it can insert into the holes on the shell.

also they look slightly wider then the lugs i have.

and the tension rod insert sticks out a lot more on mine.

could these be japanese copies or did gretsch make slightly different lugs over time?

truth be told, it's not that i want them.

it's that i was recently sold lugs on ebay that are the same as those and were said to be gretsch but when i got them they didn't match up with the ones that i have.

so i told the buyer and ended up returning them.

but now i see these ones advertised as gretsch and i say "uh oh, did i make a mistake?"

were the ones i had actual gretsch lugs but just in a different style?

if so then i owe an apologize to the seller that i returned to saying that they weren't authentic gretsch lugs.

so i won't be buying these i think that i'm just trying to see if they are actually gretsch or some kind of "gretsch style" or japanese look-a-like lugs.

anyways, that's my deal with this. i tried to do research but couldn't find anything so i figured i'd bring it to the experts.

if those are authentic gretsch lugs...then i was certainly in the wrong!

There are some MIJ lugs that look like these as well, and these could be the ones. The snare lugs are almost interchangeable, like the Slingerland sound king copies. They were not on the market long because Gretsch and Ludwig were vigilent and sued often whereas Bud Slingerland was notoriously "tight-fisted" about these sorts of things. The snare lugs are more prevalent and I have some and boy, are they "correct".

So, the short answer is that they could be MIJ...
