Are these Mach 5 Ludwig toms? Last viewed: 53 minutes ago

Got these today with some other drums. Looking at the Ludwig catalogs, they *look* like Mach series stuff to me. All I got were those two toms, a 12 and 13. They're 3 ply with re-rings, clear interiors. I'm guessing maple. They're about as heavy as my late 70s Big Beats. Pointy b/o badges, with 6 digit s/n numbers. Those lugs look like the mach lugs. Yes? No?

And my drums. Late 70s Big Beats. They were Natural finish maple. Someone threw them away, well, they were going to. The finish was shot, and someone got through a can of paint before they gave up. Plan was to refinish, but the paint stained the wood so I recovered them. Twice. Added the 14x14 ft. Rest is original. Also have the 12x8 tom, which matches. Need to set them up outside and get some pics. They're gorgeous on stage!

Yes those long lugs appear on Mach kits, and also on "high tension" marching snares and bass drums. The 12 and 13 toms were part of the Mach 5 kit.

nice save.how come i don't come across stuff like that?

from what i hear, drums with the mach lugs are hard to find from that time. i have a 13" that i was going to build a kit around, but i really don't need another kit.so i'm selling it.
