Actually, that's a Dutch made Van der Glas (Pre- Majestic) marching drum.
Got it at a pawn shop for around 30 bucks.
Great snare.
Anyway, the plot thickens:
Guys replied to my questions.
He said:
"I know the kick and floor are from a Holiday kit.
I'd say: Come and have a look"
Is that even possible?
when I google Rogers Holiday I mostly get bass drums wit tom and cymbal mounts to the side of the shell in stead of one in the middle. But there are some with a single mount in the middle.
Floor same thing: mostly ones with the old leg mounts but some with the later oval ones.
I mean, chances are this guy knows bugger all and is just repeating false information, but could it be true? A Holiday bass drum retrofitted with memriloc hardware?
'Holiday' is not the name of a kit. It's the model name for the drums themselves.
All the drums are Holiday drums until 1969-70 ,(then they were called 'Powertone' drums until 1972 and then they ceased having a name for the drums themselves), but the different layouts have different names. For example, a kit with two toms on top with a single mount is a 'Londoner' kit. A kit with a single tom on top and a cymbal arm could be a 'Headliner' or a 'Citation' or a 'Celebrity' etc, depending on the location of the tom mount, the type of cymbal arm, or the sizes of the drums. There were other kit names as well over the years.
That bass in the photo was originally a Londoner bass with Swivomatic hardware, but was changed over to Memriloc hardware. Still a Londoner layout, however.
