I am thinking about selling my Londoner V Rogers butcher block kit and seek opinions on their market value. I am the original owner and still in possession of the bill of sale and the owners manuals and the 1973/74 Rogers catalog from that time. Purchased in 1974, it has been primarily a home practice kit. I used it once with a band at a private house party, and for about ten years in my church praise band. If I do decide to sell, it would include everything that came with it as a complete kit : 8X12, 9X13, 16X16, 14X22, CB Dynasonic, hi-hat, swivomatic BD pedal, and two cymbal stands. Most of the original heads remain (both BD heads are still intact), and the condition is as would be expected for a kit with a history such as these. Since day one, I also had fibre cases to store or transport them. I would not sell the cases as I have other Rogers that I am keeping. In addition, in 1983, Rogers built 4 additional toms for me in the matching butcher block covering which at that time were the memory lock with XP8 shells and two floor stands. These also received the same care with fibre cases. However, I would not at this time sell these four with the original 5 pcs Londoner kit, as I have them incorporated into the current kit that I have at home. I still play with the praise band, but converted to a Roland electric kit last year so the butcher block has been sitting in their cases and I have another kit set up at home incorporating the 4 drums from 1983. Anyone wishing to offer up their opinion on a value can do so within this forum or to my email at as I don't view the forum as frequently as my emails. I could also send a picture(s) via email as "a picture is worth a thousand words", though pictures are still not as valuable as in person viewing. I was 23 years old when I purchased the 5 pc kit, married, and non-smoking/drug free all my life to further explain the environment the drums have been in. Thank you.
Asking for pricing opinions ofr Rogers 5pc Londoner BBlock Last viewed: 1 hour ago
Interesting. Though butcher block not a popular look, the fact you're the original owner with bill of sale, etc., I'm sure people would be attracted to that. Kinda cool. I'd love to see a photo here. Value without the dynasonic about $1,000? But photo would help the experts here. Ploughman's your Rogers guy here..
A 9/72-era 20" BD is pretty rare regardless of the wrap. That might increase the value of the kit a bit. Londoner V would have come with a 22".
The history/provenance adds value to the collector.
With all the hardware and the Dynasonic I'd say $1200-1400.
Also, block was discontinued before XP-8's came out, so those concert toms would be super rare.
Sorry, my error - the BD is 22". I was thinking of my other sets while I was typing.
The XP8 toms are double headed (8X8, 8X10, 10X14, 12X15). I contacted Olga at Rogers at the time and she told me that they still had butcher block material in stock so I was lucky. I then went to the local music shop and told them to order it for me. When I ordered the original set in 1974, I really wanted the red glitter but the catalog did not have it as an offering. Wish I had the thought to call Rogers and ask about getting the red - I would have instead of the butcher block. I don't like solid colors, didn't like the KOA much and the silver sparkle was not the glass glitter, so what was left was the BB finish. I grew to like it and in time actually like it now. I thought it fit in much better in church since there is much wood finishing in the room.
