Hi,
This latest addition came from my good friend and lover of Sea Green Pearl, Mark Cooper of Coopers Vintage Drums . Mark is one of the good guys out there and I have no qualms about promoting him and his business. Every one of my many purchases from Mark have been pleasurable.
1935 LEEDY 5 x 14 BLACK PEARL BROADWAY PARALLEL MODEL
The SHELL:
The Black Pearl finish is in excellent-plus condition, no fade, no dings no separation therefore the clean up was minimal. The BP on this 81 year old drum is one of the best preserved finishes that I’ve seen. The white interior is also very well preserved with a very strong 3507 (July, 1935) date stamp. The badge is clean with a tight grommet.
The HARDWARE:
The chrome hardware is also in excellent–plus condition and needed very little clean up, mostly on the tension rod threads. There was a little rust showing on the steel linkage butt side of the Parallel mechanism. The rims have the “fish” engraving. This drum has the 2nd generation Leedy Parallel mechanism. The drum was missing the Parallel snares but fortunately I had a spare set in my parts stash. These are almost impossible to find.
Of-the-era calf heads rounded off this cleaning.
Enjoy!
