Back to my Rock roots Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Well, I had a situation come up with my county band that I did not expect, and had to gracefully depart. They decided it was ok to book a gig out of state, taking up a full weekend, and I thought I made it clear I dont travel anymore for gigs, so with that said, things did work out, I'm now with a classic rock band called Sinister Finch, out first gig is dec 21st. I may be selling a bunch of K's that I bought for the country band that I don't think will work for rock, so keep an eye out for that soon as I test them, I'll start flipping. here is the set list for our first gig, we are just doing a 45 min set to test the water.

Interesting. I pride myself in knowledge of old rock songs yet I am familiar with only a couple on your list. Sounds like an interesting band. Good luck on your new gig. I agree - there comes a point where traveling is no fun anymore. I guess as we age. For me, the thought of being in an airport for anything other than a trip to the Bahamas is unappealing.

If it is only one gig out of state, would finding a fill in for that performance work so that you can keep your spot in the band? ...that is, unless your decision is a matter of principle.. and maybe you werent happy with the other fellas anyhow...

But, on the other hand, rock and classic rock can be really fun to play! Let me ask you this... Is the "ball and chain" mentioned above the Mike Ness/Social Distortion one?

Fun set list that spans some time! I've played Gimme 3 Steps so many times it makes my head hurt but people still love that tune. Some of the newer tunes makes up for it :)

side note on the K's they are not vintage, the dark crashes dont cut through the guitars well. I'm going to try the fast crashes sunday
