Cream is one of the worlds greatest super groups, I have evey album, I know every lyric to every song, one of these days I'm going to try to play toad.

the one thing that really set them apart was the fierce competiion between them. Bruce and clapton would solo against each other while baker just drove them both. I wish I was at the re-union

The '68 Royal Albert Hall performance was much better than the reunion performance, in my opinion. I've watched songs from each performance back to back to hear the differences. I think a lot of the difference has to do with the production/mixing of the audio. The '68 performance seems to be just raw sound... just instruments sounding like instruments. The reunion tour, they are using modern instruments through modern mixers and effects, etc... to me.. the reunion show didn't sound like the Cream that I grew to love when I was a kid.

Anyone see Beware of Mr. Baker?? Great movie, but kinda sad at the same time...

I saw their last show at the LA colissium and what people don't realize is then EC was playing thru 2 marshall stacks as was bruce and EC was playing a gibson not a strat! huge difference is sound.. also the 2005 show had the modern take on it it was NOT Cream live and vibrant but Cream produced... again huge difference and Ginger hated the DW head that came on the drums and changed them out to remos.. but his Ludwig kit blew the DW's away...

He actually gave his first Ludwig Cream set away to a roadie. That set actually had 11" deep bass drums 20 and 22.Those drums sounded huge, especially on the live stuff on "Wheels of Fire".

I likes his Luddys better also.He had tons of Ludwig sets,I wonder where they all are?I guess Kofi has some.

I actually don't think his DWs sounded bad AT ALL.

Completely different than his Ludwigs, true, but I would attribute that to heads choice. He went for more modern, clean sound. His Ludwigs always sounded very raw and ringy to me. Not that I would mind.
